Juki sponsored the Pictorial Quilts Category this year at the Festival of Quilts. The pictorial quilt category features figurative or representational pieces depicting a scene or subject. Ikuko Leska our Juki Club team leader, came from Juki Central Europe to hand out the award and congratulate the winner, Janneke de Vries-Bodzinga for her quilt ‘African Village’. Follow the link to Janneke’s gallery to view the amazing quilt in greater detail.
The second and third place quilts were also stunning. Congratulations to Delia Cecil and Sue De Vanny! I’ve added good images Delia’s and Sue’s inspiring quilts below.

Here’s another award winning quilt, by Patricia Simpson which received Highly Commended in the My First Quilt category. Patricia stitched this quilt completely by hand. She even quilted it by hand using a back-stitch instead of a quilting stitch because she wanted the lines to look continuous. The same attention to detail that made Pat an award winning zoologist is making her an award winning quilter too! Patricia is a zoologist and this quilt was inspired by her fossil collection. Pat has just purchased one of our 6-foot Machine Quilter frames and a Juki TL QVP Mini straight stitch sewing machine to go with it. I can’t wait to see what she does next!
